Ready to do the festive flip?

Thanks to our obsession with Netflix hit The Queen’s Gambit, we’re loving the resurgence of the 60s hair flip. Celebs including Jennifer Lopez and Ariana Grande (left), are also on board (chess pun totally intended), so how can you join the nostalgic club? Blow-dry with a barrel brush – roll it a few inches from the ends of your hair to create the upwards flip – or use a tool such as the BaByliss Titanium Brilliance Curls Tong. Give the style a boost with Charles Worthington Volume and Bounce Texturising Spray, then keep it in place with Tresemme Freeze Hold Hairspray, if needed. Checkmate!

Move over, Bobby from Queer Eye! Nearly 40% of us have adjusted our living space for a mood boost recently. That’s the latest from a poll by lighting supplier Ultra LEDs, which also revealed decorating and buying new furnishings top the DIY list. Interior tweaks have left a third of us feeling more positive and a quarter feeling more relaxed, so why not embrace this at-home time and create your own festive nest? We’ll be adding this WoodWick Fireside Ellipse Candle* to ours (it crackles as it burns, for ultimate hygge vibes), as well as an Ellia Gather Ultrasonic Diffuser (it has different lighting, scenting, and sound effects.) Now sit back and have a very happy Blissmas!

Reindeer-inspired baby names?

Well, they’ve got to be better than the pandemic-inspired ones (there’ve been reports of a Corona, Sanitiser and Lockdown this year!). We’re loving festive monikers for new bubs – and according to OnBuy.com research, the top Christmassy picks for girls include Mary, Gloria, Angel, Carol and Joy. Meanwhile, Gabriel, Joseph and Frank make the top 10 for boys. Although we’re actually warming to the more unusual reindeer-named Comet! (Psst… If you’re a new parent or mum-to-be, check out Boots Parenting Club for special offers, expert advice, a whopping 8 points for every £1 spent on baby prods, and loads more!)

Meet your parched-hair heroes

Given the cold weather, it’s hardly surprising that online searches for ‘how to moisturise dry hair’ have shot up by 60% in the past three months, while ‘how to restore damaged hair’ have risen by a whopping 190%. So shower your locks with these wonders:

• For dry hair: Apply Herbal Essences bio:renew Hair Mask Argan Oil for Dry Damaged Hair to wet tresses, then rinse off after three minutes. The brand has partnered with Kew’s world-famous Royal Botanic Gardens, to celebrate real botanicals.
• For textured hair: Cantu Shea Butter Leave-In Conditioning Repair Cream will inject moisture back into hair. Use it to style or as a leave-in overnight treatment. Divine.
• For oily hair: Kristin Ess Scalp Detoxifying Bubble Mask is for use before washing. It clears the scalp of oil, product build-up, dead surface skin cells and other debris. (They had us at ‘bubble mask’.)
• For curly hair: This deep-conditioning superstar, Shea Moisture Jamaican Black Castor Oil Strengthen & Restore Treatment Masque, works on curly, wavy damaged, brittle or processed/treated hair.
