Although we’re coming to the end of World Menopause Month, it’s important to keep educating ourselves and smashing taboos by talking to each other about this hugely impactful life stage. In fact, new research shows that 14 million working days are lost due to symptoms, particularly anxiety – with 85% of women surveyed by Anxiety UK and Kalms believing it was triggered by the meno. For more advice, read our feature about managing menopause in the workplace, and check out this interview we did with Meg Mathews about ways she’s handling her symptoms.
The clocks have gone back, which means we all have one hour less (kind of) in the morning. This calls for some seriously hard-working, all-round products that will get you glam in fewer steps and less time. Meet Smashbox Halo Healthy Glow Tinted Moisturiser SPF25. Combining a primer, moisturiser, foundation and a great broad spectrum SPF, this is quite literally all your face needs with one squeeze. Then there’s Becca Hydra-Light Plumping Lip Balm in Tide – a lip balm and a booster, plus a hint of colour, so that’s your pout sorted. And, finally, for your hair, there’s Philip Kingsley Elasti-Styler 5-In-1 Treatment. It contains the same ingredients as cult buy Philip Kingsley Elasticizer, along with styling polymers, so you can either blow-dry your hair or leave it to dry naturally, and it will give it shape and hold and reduce frizz and flyaways.
We mean in a sleep sense, of course (*winks*). With the release of a new report documenting the wellbeing of various countries around the world, it turns out that the Netherlands scoops the number one prize for mental wellbeing (we want what they’re having!). Check out these amazing sleep tips and find out what the hell moon milk and beditation are and how they might up your numbers in the land of Nod. Sleep tight!
Working from home? The chances are, the lines have blurred between the working day and your evening. Almost one in four adults now finds it harder to relax in their home – after it became their primary workspace. If you’re struggling to separate the two, try packing away all signs of work (think laptop, notebooks and riser) at the end of each day – including weekends! Go for a walk around the block after logging off to emulate your commute, or Zen-ify your space by lighting a candle (we love Rituals The Ritual Of Ayurveda Scented Candle*, or spritzing Tisserand Aromatherapy Total De-Stress Moodfix Mist to symbolise the start of some me-time.
Whether it’s because you want to be just like them – or should that be, smell just like them – it seems that we can’t get enough of celebrity fragrances. This Christmas, there are three that are flying off the shelves already. First up, Britney Spears Festive Fantasy. Britney has been creating perfume for more than 10 years and this latest eau de toilette addition combines fruity cherry and plum with base notes of vanilla and sandalwood. Then there’s Ariana Grande R.E.M, which mixes salted caramel, marshmallow and white musk. It’s sweet, without being sickly, and mature, without alienating her Arianators (her fans, in case you didn’t know!). And finally, there’s Promise By Jennifer Lopez, which smells so luxe and sophisticated, even celebrity fragrance naysayers will love it.
