Bow to the brows

Laminated brows are so hot right now. The brow treatment is being hailed as the ‘new microblading’ by beauty insiders – which is a pretty big statement. It involves straightening all your brow hairs using a chemical solution, so they stand in the desired direction – giving you that brushed-up effect with no product. Want to try out the effect first? Use Benefit 24-Hour Invisible Shaping Brow Setter Gel to bring a wow to your bushy brow. Gimme!

Prince Charles (allegedly) talks to his, and research shows they might be stimulated by vibrations from conversation. Stop sniggering at the back – we’re talking about plants, of course! So we’re seriously tickled by the launch of a free digital book, Bedtime Stories for Plants. Brought to us by flatsharing website spareroom.com, it’s a sign our houseplant obsession is blooming.

The (90s) bob is back!

If you’re struggling to grow your hair, you’re in luck. The new trend sweeping Instagram is sharp, fresh, glossy bobs (and it’s giving us all the 90s feels). From Kylie Jenner to our ultimate girl crush J.Lo, this jaw-skimming cut is uber-flattering. It might be time to upgrade your ‘just a trim’ request at the hairdresser.

Menopause in the spotlight

The menopause isn’t the most obvious subject for the stage, but that’s exactly what Mid Life is all about. The play follows the story of three women tackling everything that life throws at them – becoming carers to ageing parents, looking after grandchildren etc – as well as dealing with everything that the menopause brings too. Mid Life is showing 19-22 February 2020 at The Barbican, London and between 12 February and 8 March at The Old Vic, Bristol, and tickets are on sale now.

Airbnb has just revealed the top 20 places to vacay next year …

1. Milwaukee, Wisconsin, US: Yep, we were just as surprised that this US city (last made famous as the location for 70s-80s sitcom Happy Days!) has had a 729% increase in bookings. Built around Lake Michigan (one of the five great lakes in North America), apparently it has a seriously cool dining scene, plus 105 miles of scenic bike lanes (to burn off all those calories!).

2. Bilbao, Spain: Not only did the Basque city win European City of the Year in 2018, but it also has a buzzy restaurant scene and stunning architecture and is one of 12 cities across Europe hosting the UEFA Euro 2020 football tournament. So summer there = party central!

3. Buriram, Thailand: Nope, us neither. While it might not be on our radar, bookings have increased by 383%, so a lot of people are already on the case. And you can understand why: the picturesque rural province is home to some of the country’s most treasured Khmer relics. And it’s becoming a sporting hotspot, too, with the MotoGP motor racing event in March, plus an annual marathon.
