First up, Happy International Women’s Day! Always an important date in our calendar (8 March), as IWD celebrates the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women globally – and heck, we’ve got a lot to be proud of! The theme this year? #ChooseToChallenge, the idea that a challenged world is an alert world and, individually, we’re all responsible for our own thoughts and actions. Sadly, there’s still a lot of work to be done, as women remain woefully under-represented at many levels of decision-making worldwide (for example, accounting for just one quarter of members of parliament globally, according to UN Women). This IWD asks us to ‘raise your hand high to commit to choose to challenge and call out inequality’. Watch this powerful video for inspiration on how. It turns out that what you do between the sheets can impact your snooze quality. When researchers from sleep site The Dozy Owl asked people to wear shut-eye monitors after having sex, they discovered that nookie was found to increase men’s rapid eye movement (REM) 10% more than women’s.
