Let's put the kettle on and talk cancer…

Cancer can feel like a difficult health matter to ‘chat’ about, but with Macmillan Cancer Support‘s new Talking Cancer podcast series, proudly sponsored by Boots, it’s made a whole lot easier. Radio DJ Emma B chats with Boots’ chief pharmacist, Marc Donovan, and Macmillan’s chief medical officer, Rosie Loftus, on navigating the ‘new normal’ as we adapt to these current times, and shares what support is available for people living with cancer. And with Macmillan’s Coffee Morning coming up, what better excuse to enjoy a cuppa and a slice of cake with friends (socially distanced or virtually) while listening to the podcast and raising money for a worthy cause. You can tune in, or find out more, here.

Let’s hear it for #filterdrop

Here at Health & Beauty we have a 100% no-retouching policy on our own photoshoot images. So we’re cheering on a new campaign encouraging us all to share our unfiltered snaps. Make-up artist and curve model Sasha Louise Pallari started the #filterdrop movement to see more real skin on Instagram and to highlight the negative impact that over-edited, misleading photos can have on our self-esteem. It couldn’t come at a better time – a new Girlguiding survey found 34% of girls aged 11-21 won’t post pics of themselves without an app or filter to change their appearance, while 39% feel upset that they can’t look the way they do IRL compared to online. Check out Sasha’s posts for more – and embrace the #filterdrop life!
