I’m watching ‘quarantine cookalongs’ online to help me make use of basic ingredients and avoid being wasteful. My current fave? Live cooking with superstar Italian chef @massimobottura. Bellissimo!

The elderly have been hit hard by social distancing, so visit ageuk.org.uk and check out its Call in Time service. You’ll be matched with a like-minded person aged 60+, who you can phone for a weekly 30-minute chat.

Rescue things from the rubbish

As I’ve got more time on my hands just now (*grits teeth*), I’m going to repurpose stuff I’d normally bin: recyclethis.co.uk has more than 14,000 ideas for reusing or recycling items. Genius.

Embrace plant power

Order seeds for herbs, plus low-growing and dwarf vegetables (which are suitable for window boxes or small gardens). Plant them with your kids, then together cook the resulting produce. Win-win!
