Bat tip

Step 1: Prep nails with a neutral base coat, such as Sally Hansen Nail Rehab (10ml), to provide a blank nail bed.

Step 2: Next, create the bat’s wings by sweeping Rimmel 60 Seconds Rita Ora Shades of Black Collection in Rita’s Black (8ml) along the curve of the nail tip.

Step 3: With a fine eyeliner brush, such as NYX Professional Makeup Pro Brush 11, paint a small circle below the middle of the curve for the head; add ears with the brush edge.

Barbed bed

Step 1: Start by applying a neutral base coat, such as Sally Hansen Nail Rehab (10ml).

Step 2: Dip the NYX eyeliner brush into No7 Gel Finish Nail Colour in Pillarbox (10ml) and paint on a red tip, curving the edges down towards the cuticle.

Step 3: Clean the eyeliner brush,  then dip it in black nail polish Rimmel 60 Seconds Rita Ora Shades of Black in Rita’s Black (8ml) and paint a semi-circle at the base of the nail. Finally, paint crosses over the line to create the barbed-wire effect.

Gothic claw

Step 1: Paint nails with a neutral base coat, such as Sally Hansen Nail Rehab (10ml).

Step 2: Using the NYX Professional Makeup Pro Brush 11, paint three dots on the nail with Rimmel 60 Seconds Rita Ora Shades of Black Collection in Rita’s Black (8ml): one in the centre, near the nail tip, then one on each side at the bottom, near the cuticle. Join the dots to form a triangle. (For a more claw-like look, you can add a slight inward curve.)

Step 3: Fill in the triangle with the black polish.

Fright light

Step 1: Apply two coats of No7 Gel Finish Nail Colour in Pillarbox (10ml).

Step 2: Using the NYX Professional Makeup Pro Brush 11, draw on a gold lightning bolt in Essie Fall Leggy Legend Nail Lacquer (13ml).

Step 3: To create the lightning bolt, start with an outline. Paint from the top of the nail and sweep down, then diagonally across, finishing in a point at the bottom.

Step 4: Once the outline is complete, fill in the centre of the lightning bolt with the gold polish.
