Kids are finally going back to school, but things are bound to feel a bit different with social distancing still a reality, even in classrooms. So if you’ve got little ones, it might be a good idea to download (for free) the new children’s book The Big Thing (or you can buy it – the money goes to UNICEF USA’s Covid Relief Fund). Explaining the pandemic through the eyes of a 5-year-old, it also teaches kids about silver linings and ways they can find them despite this global crisis!

Lip-smacking discoveries

The humble lip balm may not feature that highly on your beauty radar. But now we’ve got masks to contend with, you might just find they’re the perfect swap for your usual smudgy, stain-y lipstick! And the latest offerings are way more than just a slick of shea butter. First up, there’s Fenty Beauty Pro Kiss’r Luscious Lip Balm – originally only available in Clear, there are now three sheer shades – but what makes this a standout balm is the unique doe-foot applicator wand, which gives precision application. Next up is NARS Afterglow Lip Balm, which also adds a sheer wash of colour (it comes in eight shades), each containing very subtle gold flecks to give your lips an extra shine factor – perfect for when your mask comes off! 'Maskne' marvels

Online searches for ‘maskne’ are steadily getting higher as we start to discover some of the niggly side-effects that come from wearing much-required face coverings. Turns out a combination of sweat and dirt getting trapped in pores and face masks covering the skin can create blemishes. So what to do? Start by cleansing with a salicylic-based cleanser – we love The Inkey List Salicylic Acid Cleanser (150ml). Follow with Avène Cleanance Comedomed Anti-blemishes Concentrate (30ml), which can be used all over your face or to target blemishes specifically. You can also improve your chances by washing your mask after every wear and, as always, wash your hands frequently.
