Celebrity fragrance signings are like buses; there isn’t one for ages and then a spate of them come along at the same time. And the latest big names to lend their faces to some mega scents are seriously A-list. First up is Lady Gaga. She is now the face of Valentino Voce Viva For Women, a gorgeous floral woody scent of geranium, jasmine, spicy ginger and bergamot. If you’ve ever wondered what Lenny Kravitz smells like (who hasn’t?!), then you’ll be pleased to know it’s YSL Y Mens, a spicy aromatic fragrance that’s filled with incense, sage and ginger. And finally, the actress Lucy Boynton – who you may know from Bohemian Rhapsody (she played Freddie Mercury’s girlfriend, Mary Austin) – has just been revealed as the new face of the classic scent, Chloé For Her. Time to get spritzing.
The TikTok craze for DIY dental advice has experts in a spin. For good reason. Think using a nail file to even up crooked teeth (do not try this – your enamel will never grow back!). Or rinsing your mouth with hydrogen peroxide not sold over the counter (this can cause chemical burns – and irreversible damage to teeth/gums). Or rubbing the inside of a banana skin on your teeth to whiten them (hello, fructose klaxon: you may as well rub sugar onto your teeth!) Any wonder the Oral Health Foundation has sent out an urgent warning to stop people taking the advice of influencers with no dental qualifications. Frankly, we’d rather keep our teeth – crooked and stained as they are – than have a mouthful of crumbling gnashers.
But if you’re worried about your teeth for any reason, the Foundation has a Dental Helpline on 01788 539780* offering free, independent advice from fully trained dental professionals.

It’s undoubtedly been a stressful year, but according to a new body of research commissioned by cosmetic treatment specialist Uvence, more than two million 18-34-year-olds say they look five years older, thanks to the stress and anxiety caused by Covid-19. If this resonates with you, then a retinol-based product is a great way to tackle the appearance of wrinkles (just build up gradually if you’re a first-time user). Honest Beauty Honestly Pure Retinol Serum is a fab product if you’ve never tried retinol or vitamin A before as it’s combined with hyaluronic acid, so it delivers hydration as well.
