Cutting it short is the hair move of the moment, with model Kaia Gerber and actor January Jones rocking a bob lately. Want in, but not sure it will suit you? Then try it – or any other length – virtually by uploading a photo of yourself to the L’Oréal Style My Hair tool. Once you’ve decided to take the plunge, choose whether you want to go stylishly mussed-up or sleek. Kristin Ess Soft Shine Beach Wave Spray can help get you a relaxed, tousled bob – spritz on hair after you’ve air-dried or waved it, so you don’t get that typical crunchy/salty feel. Or, pick John Frieda Frizz Ease Forever Smooth Blow Dry Styling Spray for mega-smooth vibes. We love!
Imagine having to sacrifice buying toiletries so you can pay your rent or buy food. It’s a very real problem for many of the 14 million people living in poverty in the UK. Boots has joined ranks with The Hygiene Bank, a charity that gives free personal care items to people in need, to help combat this issue. It has set up donation points in 245 stores, where you can drop off new, unused, in-date items, from toiletries and period products to make-up and nappies. Which means it couldn’t be easier to support this cause.
We’ve got competition here at Health & Beauty! After six-year-old Londoner Faith was bullied at school because of her skin colour, her mum, Serlina Boyd, wanted to build her daughter’s confidence and self-esteem and help her feel more in control. So, with Faith as co-editor, Serlina (who’s worked for magazines such as Marie Claire) created the UK’s first magazines for Black children: Cocoa Girl and Cocoa Boy. Aimed at 7-14 year olds, they’re all about empowering kids, with content on everything from history to hairstyles. And, yes, kids are encouraged to contribute to the magazine. Inspiring stuff!
There are many perks to working from home: no commute, your favourite biscuits on tap… and the odd lunchtime quickie! Yup, nearly a third of us have sex between 10 and 2pm, according to a new survey. Impressive! Friday is the most popular day for nookie, with Tuesday and Wednesday the least (so much for hump day, eh?). If you’re looking to spice things up – over lunch or otherwise – explore our sexual wellbeing range.
Around 15 million people in the UK are thought to live with the most common type of eczema, atopic dermatitis – that’s nearly a quarter of us! And this National Eczema Week, we say it’s time to stop suffering in silence and show your skin who’s boss. These soothing products* are a good place to start:
1. Farmologie Unfragranced Hand Cream contains colloidal oatmeal and oat oil to help soothe and nourish dry, sensitive and eczema-prone skin.
2. Aveeno Dermexa Daily Emollient Body Wash is unscented, soap-free and moisturising. Once again, oats are the wonder ingredient.
3. La Roche-Posay Toleriane Sensitive Moisturiser For Sensitive Skin is so gentle, it’s even suitable for babies.
