Mark Sunday 11 October to Wednesday 14 October in your diaries, self-care queens, because Glamour magazine has teamed up with Boots to bring you the ultimate, virtual wellness festival. Running over four nights, it’s a packed timetable of wellbeing and health talks, demos, classes and Q&As on everything from nutrition to nooky, mental health to mindfulness. There will be more amazing experts and influencers than you can shake a #wellbeing hashtag at, including The Mac Twins from The Gut Stuff and fertility and women’s health expert Emma Cannon. Even our fave former Love Island-er, Megan Barton Hanson, will be there to chat sex positivity. The event kicks off across Zoom and Instagram this weekend with Self Care Sunday. So, find out more here, grab yourself a ticket and bag your spot on the sofa!
There’s no doubt that when it comes to glow-factor, Beyoncé has it in bucket loads. So we were thrilled when her make-up artist, Rokael Lizama, spilled the glow-goss (gloss?) on how he made her skin look so radiant in her latest video, Black Is King. The wonder product? A few drops of Iconic London Illuminator in Glow added to a little oil to create a sublime, dewy effect all over. And the even better news? You can get it at Boots!
We feel an early night coming on! More than 50% of us reckon a good night’s kip is the key to feeling more confident, according to a new survey. Stellar shut-eye is closely followed by being healthy, which gives 49% of us a boost. If you want to refresh your sleep sitch, get cosy and settle in for Boots’ latest Live Well Panel with insomnia specialist Kathryn Pinkham – it’s packed with helpful tips. Plus, try these surprising sleep strategies, from beditation to moon milk… sweet dreams, indeed!
More ammunition in the battle against single-use plastic! Firstly, all L’Oréal Paris Elvive shampoo and conditioner bottles are now made from 100% recyclable and recycled plastic. The move will save 900 tonnes of new plastic in the UK (that’s the same weight as 50 double-decker buses!) and 7,000 globally. Secondly, you can recycle your make-up empties in selected Boots stores, thanks to Maybelline’s new recycling programme. Find your nearest station at maybelline.co.uk. (And don’t forget: you can now collect Advantage Card points for recycling other, difficult plastics at Boots; for details, see boots.com/boots-recycling-scheme.)
One of the positives to come out of lockdown is that around one million cigarette smokers in the UK have quit the habit since we were confined to our homes, according to a survey. Just under half of all the respondents who gave up specifically cited coronavirus as a reason. Impressive stuff! And if you were one of the 440,000 people who tried to kick the habit for good, it’s never too late to try again. Check out our NHS Stop Smoking Service (you’re four times more likely to stop smoking if you use an NHS service to help you!). Quitting will make a big difference to your health and your bank balance.
Call us eager (we like to say well-prepared), but the countdown to Christmas has started, and we know just the gift to bring joy to loved ones. More than ever, friends and family need to be reminded of special memories to help put a smile on their face in these otherwise challenging times. With personalised photo gifts from Boots Photo, powered by CEWE, it’s easy to create a meaningful and personal gift, such as wall art that retells the stories of your most treasured memories, or a calendar so you can revisit special moments every month. Just upload your photo (in store via the CEWE instant photo kiosks, on the Boots Photo App or online at bootsphoto.com), personalise it and then pick it up in store or wait for it to be delivered. How fuss-free is that?
