‘I’m going to top up my gifts with a little “kindness extra”. I’ll make vouchers offering things like babysitting for my mate so she can have a date night with her husband, and a Sunday lunch for my parents, as they always cook for me!’
‘I’m not going to do my usual panicky, last-minute dash to the high street. This year, I’ll be a “safe shopper”, so I’m starting now and getting most things online. Plus, it gives me more time to research meaningful gifts for the people who are most important to me.’
‘2020 has been weird – but amid the craziness I’ve learned to make bread and picked up tons of crafting skills! So I’ll be adding DIY extras to the gifts I buy for loved ones. I may knit or sew or bake – it’s one way of giving Christmas a truly personal touch.’
‘I’m acutely aware it’s been a tough year for a lot of families, and it’s important for me that my children learn that to give is better than to receive. So we’ll be making stockings, filled with surprises for vulnerable kids in our area.’
‘I’m avoiding huge parties in favour of intimate, living room “Chrisnics” – aka Christmas picnics – with my friends. So we can catch up (no competing with “doof doof” bar music) while sitting on a rug on my carpet, eating snacks, playing games and having LOLs.’
